The
Pastor’s Pen
Hello Friends,
First of all, I want to inform any
of you who have not yet heard, that Linda is recovering fully &
rapidly from her accident on November 2nd.
She had surgery to re-construct her crushed cheekbone &
eye socket on November 19th.
Unlike Humpty Dumpty, the Macular Surgeon, Dr. Curtis, with
the guiding, healing hand of our Father, was able to put all the
pieces together again. We
are deeply grateful for God’s healing touch and I again want to
express our deep appreciation for all of your prayers, cards, calls,
meals, flowers, emails and visits.
You will never know how much it meant to Linda and me to
know that we had your prayers, love and concern in her time of pain
and suffering. She still looks a little beat up, but she is recovering nicely.
Let us never fail to keep those on
our Church prayer list in our daily prayers and let us remember
that our prayers do not end with, “Amen”.
We can each be part of God’s answer to prayers by being His
hands. Our presence,
expressions of love, concern, and support mean so much to those
in pain, those alone, and those who suffer.
We indeed are agents for God and we must be available for
service so He can use us for healing, loving, supporting and encouraging
each other.
It does not seem possible, but here
we are at the end of 2002.
It seems like only yesterday that some were predicting catastrophe,
gloom and doom, striking fear in the hearts of many as we approached
Y2K. We know that we
are in the “end time”; we just don’t know how long that “end time”
is. So, we must keep
working, doing, and preaching the Gospel in word and deed.
Each of us has been called and it is incumbent upon each
of us to walk worthy of our vocation and make our calling and election
sure. We are agents
for God…. Ambassadors for Christ.
Eph 4:1 I
therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy
of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
(KJV)
2 Pet 1:10-11
10
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your
calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall
never fall:
11
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly
into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
(KJV)
2 Cor 5:20 Now
then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you
by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. (KJV)
God has called us together for a
purpose, a reason; we are not joined together in this Church by
accident or chance. We
have a ministry to perform.
It takes all of us… our time, our energy, our talents, our
work, our commitment, our tithes and offerings to carry out our
calling. As we end
the year, let us live up to what God expects of us and be truly
profitable servants!
